Length — pick by walk
Short1–1.5 m
Pavements, roadsides and traffic, held in the hand. Cannot be worn hands-free.
Medium1.5–2.6 m
Parks, woods and loose-lead walking. The most suitable lead to wear across the body, and long enough to do it comfortably.
Long line5 / 10 / 15 m
Recall training in open space, on a harness. Not a walking lead. 5 m is the most versatile.
Straps
Soft
Honeycomb texture, thinner and more flexible. The lighter one to wear across the body.
Heavy duty
Thicker and sturdier, with a smooth face. It flexes less under load, which is what gives control when a big dog surges.
Both come in all three widths.
