Frequently asked questions

Delivery, returns, custom orders and looking after your lead. If your question is not here, email us and we will answer it.

How long will my order take to arrive?

All our leads are handmade, so please allow 1 to 3 working days for your order to be made and processed. Standard UK delivery then takes 2 to 3 business days. If you need it sooner, express delivery is £5 and arrives within 1 working day of dispatch.

Is UK delivery free?

Yes. Standard delivery is free on all UK orders, with no minimum spend. Express delivery is available at £5 if you need it faster.

Do you ship outside the UK?

Yes, we ship internationally. International orders are sent on a delivery duty unpaid basis, which means any customs charges or import duties are payable by you on arrival. These vary by country and are set by your local customs authority, not by us.

Can I return my order if it is not right?

You have 30 days from receiving your order to request a return. The item needs to be unused and in its original packaging, with proof of purchase. Email hello@fullgrainhound.com to start a return and we will send you a return label and instructions. Please do not send anything back before contacting us first.

Are your leads made to order?

Often, yes. We make in small batches, so if the colour and size you have chosen is not in stock we will make it for you, which is why we ask for 1 to 3 working days before dispatch. Nothing is mass produced or drop-shipped.

Can I order a custom length, colour or fitting?

Yes. We make bespoke leads to your own measurements, colour and hardware choice. Tell us what you need on our custom dog leads page and we will come back to you with a quote and a current lead time.

How do I know which size to order?

Two things to pick: width and length. Width is matched to your dog's size and pulling strength, and length is matched to how you want to walk. Our size guide matches width and clip size to breed and weight, and the length guide explains the short and long options. If you are between two sizes, email us and we will advise.

How do I look after my lead?

Wipe it with a damp cloth after muddy walks, and rinse the clip and sliders in fresh water after the beach, as salt is harder on metal than mud is. No washing, drying or conditioning is needed. There is more detail in our guide on choosing a waterproof dog lead.

How do I get in touch?

Email hello@fullgrainhound.com or use our contact page. We are a small team in Dorset and usually reply within one working day.
