Collection: Long Line Dog Leads

A long line is not a long lead. A walking lead is for getting from the door to the field; a long line is what you use once you are there — standing still while your dog ranges, with a physical connection if the recall does not come back.

Every lead we make is available as a 5 m, 10 m or 15 m long line, in all five colours and all three widths. Choose the length on any lead below.

• 5 m — the most versatile of the three. Enough line for early recall work, and short enough to gather up quickly when you need it out of the way.
• 10 m — the dedicated recall length, and what most trainers reach for in an open field.
• 15 m — maximum range, once you are confident handling the line.

Clip a long line to a well-fitted harness rather than a collar, and let it trail rather than holding it coiled while your dog is working. Out of a field it is a question of gathering: loop the slack into your hand or over a shoulder and a long line is easy company at a pub table or on a park bench. Let out on a pavement it is a trip hazard, so that is the one place it does not belong.
